EHMAHAA is a NSW incorporated association, first registered on 24/11/2011. The full title is the EVANS HEAD MEMORIAL AERODROME HERITAGE AVIATION ASSOCIATION.
The association is composed entirely of volunteers. The association manages the operations and collection of the Museum. Day-to-day running of the association is by a committee who are elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting.
The patron of the association is Dr. Ron Haughton, DFC, Ld’H.
Dr Houghton joined the RAAF in 1942 and continued his flying career as a commercial airline pilot until 1989. He amassed over 35,000 hours of flying in an amazing variety of aircraft, from a Tiger Moth to Boeing 747’s.
He received his initial aircrew training under the Empire Air Training Scheme which inspired a lifelong career in the aviation industry – as a commercial airline captain; completing two Masters degrees in Air Safety; and a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering. Following this he took up lecturing posts in aviation at University of Sydney and Newcastle University.
Ron still maintains a love of aviation and a desire to preserve aviation history. He is currently the National President of Bomber Command in Australia, and is an active member of Institute of Navigation, Royal Aeronautical Society, Royal Meteorological Society, the Historic Aircraft Restoration Society, and Patron of Evans Head Memorial Aerodrome Heritage Aviation Association.
